Michael Vick: Innocent Until Proven Guilty...right?

On last Thursday, Mike Vick pleaded "not guilty" to the crime of dog fighting. He then issued a statement, through his lawyer that mentioned how he knows the crimes against him are "serious" and how he hopes to "clear his good name." Unfortunately, the way the media, companies, certain groups, and people are judging him, you would think the man has already been sentenced when in actuality, his court proceedings are months away. His endorsement deals have been frozen, the NFL has suspended him from training camp, his merchandise has been pulled from stores, and a vast majority of people have already tried him in their minds, and this all stems from allegations. Allegations! Allegations?! We're talking about allegations! Not the trial, not convictions...allegations!

This is an o to familiar thing for people (in general) to judge before one has been convicted of anything. Even Jesus Christ went through this. He was persecuted and judged by all types of people, and he NEVER committed a sin, EVER! Come on people. But, this is why I’m not surprised that Vick is receiving all this negative publicity and judgment. The sad thing is, is that you don't hear anything about how giving he is especially to his old Hampton Roads community. No, they don't want to publicize that. They might want to put that on local news for 5 secs, but that's about it. But that's ok, because on the real...MIKE VICK WILL WALK!

As of the time of this blog, there is no credible evidence against him besides the fact that he purchased the home. As of now, there is no video evidence against him, no pictures, just a document that speaks of his involvement. Of course this information came from his friends that turned their backs against Vick and accused him of involvement (probably thinking to get a lesser sentence). Then, the feds were able to get one of Vicks co-defendants to plead guilty so they can use him to testify against Vick. But that won't work. The only way Vick can lose is if there is visual evidence of him at the scene of the dogfights with the money (since they claim he funded it) AND a paper trial that leads to Vick financing everything. As of now, all they have against him is that he purchased the home, which does make him guilty of negligence. Even if they thought that this man was guilty and had great evidence against him, why is he free without even having a bail set? And why hasn’t his mug shot picture been released, since the media is so quick to put information like that out there?

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY...right?

I definitely agree that Vick is inonocent until proven guilty. It seems that when dealing with high profile successful people the media is quick to go to walmart and pick up that 24 pack of HATERADE. I don't understand why we can't wait till after the trial to pass judgement.

Obviously he made a terrible mistake, but he is only human. This is a bad situation, I hope he has a fair trial and that the truth, no matter how good or bad it is, comes out at the end.

Let's see how the trial will go.....esp with this media blitz ? Do you really think celebrities have fair trials?

Let's be real: Innocent until proven guilty does not exist, especially once the media gets involved. I feel that he's going into this trial at a huge disadvantage. Good luck finding jurors who haven't heard all the stuff they been saying on the news. Yeah, they may get instructions not to watch it or to disregard it but everyone knows when told not to do something, people are more likely to do it.

I sincerely hope he is innocent. The sad thing is that even if he is, I don't know how much of a victory it will be. I doubt the media will make even a fraction of the effort to clear his good name as they did butchering it. Why? Because guilt sells. It's more juicy to hear about stars involved in illegal affairs than to hear that they're innocent and doing good things.

His Lawyer is the closest thing WE will get to Johnny C.(RIP)!

WHY did this crime that THEY want to associate with BLACKS and so called BLACK DRUG DEALERS happen to a Black QB ...WHY? I hate that it happened to Vick B/C it forces me to pull out the race card(that I am so trying to avoid) but, did Brett Favre, a QB lose any endoursements when he was driving drunk had an accident and someone in that crash DIED? In fact, did you ever hear about that one...hmmm!?
